Athletic Training Internship - Arizona Rattlers (Mesa, AZ)

Requirements:

Must be either an undergraduate Athletic Training student or an entry level masters athletic training student on track to take the BOC exam or a newly Certified Athletic Trainer just looking to gain some experience working in professional sports.

Must be available for 20 or more hours a week and all nine home games

Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds

Expectations:

Desire to work in the setting of professional or collegiate athletic training

Goal oriented, detail oriented and a self starter

Football Operations Internship - Orlando Predators (Orlando, FL)

2015 Orlando Predators Communications Internship

The 2014 South Division Champions, Orlando Predators, are seeking highly motivated, goal oriented, and dedicated candidates for our 2015 football operations internship program.  Candidates should expect to build upon their work experience and professional network in the fast-paced, results driven world of the Arena Football League.

Finalists will be contacted for interviews.  All applications will be kept on file until the beginning of the internship program that each candidate applied for.

Position Overview:

Interns will assist in all aspects of the football operations department, including practices, game days and preparation for game days. All interns will be required to work at least 20 hours a week and be present at all home games. The internship will begin in Spring 2015 (Training Camp) and conclude in Summer 2015 (Arena Bowl).

Responsibilities:

Assist in the setup and breakdown of team practice, including practice field, training room, meeting rooms, and locker room.

Assist the football operations staff in filming team practice and games for team meetings and scouting reports

Assist the equipment staff with the day to day logistics of player & equipment management (workouts, tryouts, player equipment, entrance & exit physicals)

Assist the football operations staff with team meals and team travel coordination for practices and game days.

Assist the equipment staff in the preparation of game day football equipment (footballs, helmets, shoulder pads, etc) 

Other duties as assigned by the coaching staff, general manager and the football operations staff.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is self motivated and is capable of working in a team environment. 

The ideal candidate must have a valid driver's license, ability to receive college credit for the internship, and ability to lift 25 pounds.

2015 Game Day Operations Internship - Philadelphia Soul (Philadelphia, PA)

The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League are seeking highly motivated college-level students striving to gain operations/event management experience and position themselves for a career in the Sports Industry upon graduation. This internship will provide much opportunity for creativity and growth, but will require hard work, enthusiasm, and resourcefulness, especially on game days. The position runs from mid-March through the last week in August and its primary focus will be in the Operations Department, specifically in the setup and implementation of game day production and other events.

The Game Operations intern will receive at least 180 hours of work with the Soul, with approximately 100 of those hours being fulfilled on game day and the remaining hours being fulfilled through scheduled times in the Soul front offices or other events.

The job description is as follows:

• Game Day Interns are not paid; you must receive college credit for the internship.
• Game Day Interns are required to work every home game for the Soul.
• Game Day Interns must have reliable transportation to the Soul offices, Wells Fargo Center, and any other events where attendance is mandatory.
• Game Day Interns must act in a professional and responsible manner at all times during Soul hours. They must also always be prompt in arriving at the arena at scheduled times on game day. All Game Day Interns will be required to sign an Intern Rules of Conduct contract with the Soul.
• Game Day Interns will help in the setup of game day events and production. Each game, the intern will have a different responsibility relating to the game operation in the following areas (credential distribution, halftime acts, pre-game elements, promotion team coordination, assisting in game community relations initiatives, assisting with promotional giveaways, etc.)
• Game Day interns will be provided a Soul polo shirt to wear at games and will be provided with a meal during the day of the game.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn the organization's coding, voucher and invoice system
  • Perform journal entries by using basic accounting software
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account analysis
  • Assist in month-end closing
  • Assist in preparing and mailing checks

Equipment Internship - Reports to Equipment Manager

Description:
This is a non-paid internship. Hours are flexible and will be agreed to by supervisor and intern. Hours needed for this internship are generally from 7:00am through 2:00pm daily. Experience in sports not necessary, but is preferred. Applicants must have their own form of transportation.

Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Football Operations Intern - Portland Thunder (Portland, OR)

Portland Thunder Football Operations Intern  

The Portland Thunder is seeking an intern that will be responsible for planning the logistics for the organization including travel, housing, facilities, catering, grounds, security and guest accommodations. This is a non-paid internship. Hours are flexible and will be agreed to by supervisor and intern. The primary goal of this internship is to teach the intern(s) the responsibilities of working in football operations for a professional sports team. For the 2015 season, The Portland Thunder is looking for two to three football operations interns that have a strong passion for football, practice and game filming and editing, equipment inventory, and other related areas.  The length of the internship will be from the end of January through the end of August. The intern must be able to perform duties at team practices and on all game days.  

Responsibilities: 
•    Assist the football operations manager with day-to-day assignments, including but not limited to: video record practice and all game days, edit film for coaching staff. 
•    Assist the football operations manager with team meal coordination after practice and game day.  
•    Assist with practice and game day setup, including locker room organization and breakdown. 
•    Assist with football equipment inventory. 
•    Ability to represent The Portland Thunder at special events with integrity at all times, including game day or appearances as assigned. 
•    Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
•    Strong proficiency in organization and time management. 
•    Proficient in computer programs including, but not limited to the following: MS Excel, MS Word 
•    Willingness to learn and to be educated on film editing and exchange software.

Portland Thunder Sponsorship/ Fulfillment Intern

As an intern in the Sponsorship department for The Portland Thunder you will work with the full-time sponsorship staff on maintaining relationships with all of our partners. As a Sponsorship intern, you will be responsible for developing and securing corporate sponsorships for The Portland Thunder organization. The intern will be tasked with integrating signage, traditional media, digital media, hospitality, community programs, and all other Club assets to develop and sell innovative corporate sponsorships. Creativity and thinking outside the box is imperative, as you will partake in ideation meetings, creating new promotions and partner tie-ins. During events you will aid in the activation of existing partnerships and assist in the game night duties of the sponsorship department. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Identify and solicit new local and regional corporate sponsors.
  • Assisting with development of sponsorship proposals and execution of a formal pitch presentation 
  • Assisting with the on-site activation of sponsors’ promotions and marketing activities 
  • Develop customized sponsorship programs using inventory controlled by the organization to generate net revenue and meet the needs of clients.
  • Assist Sponsorship Service Coordinators in the execution of multiple partnership agreements. 
  • Serve as special projects sales person to present and sell sponsorships to one-time events and community relations programs. 
  • Identify new ways of generating incremental revenue/minimizing expenses for the organization. 
  • Manage expense budgets related to sales activities.
  • Provide corporate sponsors with proper level of client service and support in order to maximize the sale of sponsorships and return on investment for corporate partners.
     

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent, proven cold calling skills.
  • Technically proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Game Day Operations Internship - Spokane Shock (Spokane Valley, WA)

Description: Intern will work directly with the Director of Game Operations, while also providing support with the creative, and communications aspects of the marketing and operations department. The start date would be mid-to-late March, with the potential to continue on to the regular season (including postseason). This internship will be unpaid, but is eligible to receive college credit. Internship could require working nights, weekends, and holidays. Intern should also expect to work games and/or other Shock non-game events. In-office work will involve managing new projects, research, creating new campaigns, managing various game elements.

Job Duties can include:

  • In-game promotion execution
  • Assist in execution of grassroots events and other HEAT non-game events
  • Assist in creation of campaigns and new grassroots opportunities
  • Assembly and preparation of media kits (as needed, surrounding media campaigns throughout the season)
  • Assist with researching and contacting new clients to market talent to assist with talent booking process
  • Assist with Sponsorship relations and execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficiency in software for desktop publishing, and presentations, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro), Microsoft Office (emphasis on PowerPoint), and Apple Keynote. ***These skills are not required but applicants with experience are encouraged to apply.

The Spokane Shock Arena Football Team is currently looking for an exceptional intern to help our communications and marketing team with communications/journalism. We’re looking for a person who enjoys being part of a team, who take initiative, and wants to gain new experiences with a professional football organization. The Communications Intern will be responsible for a number of key functions of the Shock’s communications and media relations department. This position is an unpaid internship.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create content through collection of information from team staff and team for use across the Company’s various communication platforms, digital and otherwise
  • Write drafts of all press releases for submission
  • Create templates and content for press releases
  • Format game notes, bios and building statistical packages for media and scouts
  • Coordinate media interactions with team members
  • Update team stats, bios and transactions for the Shock
  • Assist with coordinating and executing various media drops throughout the season
  • Provide general administrative support for the Communications Department
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned
