LA KISS is currently looking for an exceptional intern to help our communications and marketing team with communications/journalism. The Communications Intern will be responsible for a number of key functions for the media relations department. This position is an unpaid internship.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create content through collection of information from team staff and team for use across the Company’s various communication platforms, digital and otherwise
  • Write drafts of all press releases for submission
  • Create templates and content for press releases
  • Format game notes, bios and building statistical packages for media and scouts
  • Coordinate media interactions with team members
  • Update team stats, bios and transactions for the Shock
  • Assist with coordinating and executing various media drops throughout the season
  • Provide general administrative support for the Media Department
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned

This internship is ideal for someone that is serious about pursuing a career in sales with a professional sports team. It will provide sales, customer service, ticket operations, and fulfillment experience. This position will report directly to the Director of Ticket Sales and the Vice President of Ticket Sales.

JOB SUMMARY: The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League is offering an opportunity to current college level students looking to gain real world sales experience and position themselves for a career in the Sports Industry upon graduation. Our emphasis is to provide significant challenges, varying daily operational requirements and opportunity for creativity, resourcefulness, and excellence.

This internship is available for full-time candidates, eligible to work for college credit beginning at the end of April/beginning of May thru the beginning of August, 2015.


  • Daily outbound sales campaigns

2015 Game Day Operations Internship - Philadelphia Soul (Philadelphia, PA)

The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League are seeking highly motivated college-level students striving to gain operations/event management experience and position themselves for a career in the Sports Industry upon graduation. This internship will provide much opportunity for creativity and growth, but will require hard work, enthusiasm, and resourcefulness, especially on game days. The position runs from mid-March through the last week in August and its primary focus will be in the Operations Department, specifically in the setup and implementation of game day production and other events.

The Game Operations intern will receive at least 180 hours of work with the Soul, with approximately 100 of those hours being fulfilled on game day and the remaining hours being fulfilled through scheduled times in the Soul front offices or other events.

The job description is as follows:

• Game Day Interns are not paid; you must receive college credit for the internship.
• Game Day Interns are required to work every home game for the Soul.
• Game Day Interns must have reliable transportation to the Soul offices, Wells Fargo Center, and any other events where attendance is mandatory.
• Game Day Interns must act in a professional and responsible manner at all times during Soul hours. They must also always be prompt in arriving at the arena at scheduled times on game day. All Game Day Interns will be required to sign an Intern Rules of Conduct contract with the Soul.
• Game Day Interns will help in the setup of game day events and production. Each game, the intern will have a different responsibility relating to the game operation in the following areas (credential distribution, halftime acts, pre-game elements, promotion team coordination, assisting in game community relations initiatives, assisting with promotional giveaways, etc.)
• Game Day interns will be provided a Soul polo shirt to wear at games and will be provided with a meal during the day of the game.

- Assist Community Outreach Department in all aspects pertinent to team community involvement

The San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League are seeking qualified individuals to work as interns in the team’s media relations department for the 2015 season. The position will provide an opportunity for one or more individuals to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of media relations in a professional sports setting. This is an excellent opportunity for college students to earn credit and enter the field of professional sports. This is an unpaid, part-time internship and only those that are eligible for course-credit will be considered for the position.

Media Relations Intern duties include:
*Working closely with director and staff for coverage of team in both local and national print and electronic media.
*Assisting with game notes by researching statistics and information about the SaberCats and opposing team to be distributed prior to every game.
*Monitor team's social media efforts, keeping fans apprised of current events related to the team                     *Provide updated content for game program prior to every home game.
*Create and update content for team website.
*Assist at all home games in press box and media work room at SAP Center.
*Take credential requests from media for all home games.
*Work with media and players to facilitate interview requests.
*Attend SaberCat practices to answer questions from fans and media.
*Maintain player bios for website and team media guide.
*Other duties as assigned.

*Strong writing background and ability.
*Computer literate in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Word Press.

Primary responsibilities include: observing daily athletic training room operation; learning about prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries; practice and game coverage; and travel as assigned; transcribing accurate injury and treatment records; set up athletic venues with water and/or emergency equipment for practice and competition; transport athletes to and from medical facilities when necessary. Reports to Head Athletic Trainer, Head Coach, and GM.

Game Day Operations Internship - Spokane Shock (Spokane Valley, WA)

Description: Intern will work directly with the Director of Game Operations, while also providing support with the creative, and communications aspects of the marketing and operations department. The start date would be mid-to-late March, with the potential to continue on to the regular season (including postseason). This internship will be unpaid, but is eligible to receive college credit. Internship could require working nights, weekends, and holidays. Intern should also expect to work games and/or other Shock non-game events. In-office work will involve managing new projects, research, creating new campaigns, managing various game elements.

Job Duties can include:

  • In-game promotion execution
  • Assist in execution of grassroots events and other HEAT non-game events
  • Assist in creation of campaigns and new grassroots opportunities
  • Assembly and preparation of media kits (as needed, surrounding media campaigns throughout the season)
  • Assist with researching and contacting new clients to market talent to assist with talent booking process
  • Assist with Sponsorship relations and execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficiency in software for desktop publishing, and presentations, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro), Microsoft Office (emphasis on PowerPoint), and Apple Keynote. ***These skills are not required but applicants with experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to adapt easily in a fast-paced team environment and balance multiple projects and deadlines
  • Knowledge of both PC and Mac environments
