Media Relations Intern - Arena Football League (Chicago, IL)

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the content management and upkeep of the AFL website including pictures, feature articles, statistics, and polls.
  • Assist in writing weekly press releases.
  • Assist with all AFL social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram).
  • Assist in the publication of the 2014 Record and Fact Book and Blue Book.
  • Assist in editing of all AFL publications and materials.
  • Participate in League Media Relations conference calls
  • Assist in compiling and recording data and information received from member teams

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • Current college or graduate student
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Writing experience required. League will request writing samples from each candidate.

The Five time Arena Bowl Champions Arizona Rattlers are looking for a communication/scheduling intern to work directly with the General Manager and Head Coach.  This position is for a dynamic male or female that can handle a fast paced work environment.  We are looking for someone who is focused on learning football operations from inside a championship organization.

Duties will include but are not limited to:  

-Assist the GM/HC with his social media posts and communication with fans.

Communications/Media Relations Intern - Orlando Predators (Orlando, FL)

2015 Orlando Predators Communications Internship

The 2014 South Division Champions, Orlando Predators, are seeking highly motivated, outgoing, and dedicated candidates for our 2015 internships.  Candidates should expect to build upon their work experience in the fast-paced, results driven world of the Arena Football League.

Finalists will be contacted for interviews.  All applications will be kept on file until the beginning of the internship program that each candidate applied for.

Position Overview:

Interns will assist in all aspects of the communications department, including media and public relations, social media, and community outreach. Weekly hours are flexible, however all interns will be required to work on game days. The internship will begin in Spring 2015 and conclude in Summer 2015 (exact dates TBD).

Qualities and Qualifications:

  • Effective use of both writing and oral communication skills is required.

  • Candidates must prove effective interpersonal communication skills to both internal and external audiences.

  • Working knowledge of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer) is required.

  • Knowledge of Adobe (InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat) is preferred, but not required.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with media.

Equipment Intern - 2015 Season - Philadelphia Soul (Voorhees, NJ)

Equipment Internship - Reports to Equipment Manager

Description:
This is a non-paid internship. Hours are flexible and will be agreed to by supervisor and intern. Hours needed for this internship are generally from 7:00am through 2:00pm daily. Experience in sports not necessary, but is preferred. Applicants must have their own form of transportation.

Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work daily, including holidays and weekends as required during the season
- Prior experience in football and/or football equipment a plus
- Knowledge of football or football equipment a plus
- Ability to understand directions and work without direct supervision

2015 Video Intern - Philadelphia Soul (Voorhees, NJ)

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a self-starter and a team player
- Should have previous experience as a camera operator
- Should have a working knowledge of the game of arena football
- Experience with non-linear editing software, graphic design software. Experience with Adobe After Effects is a plus!

Internships: Player Operations
Internship, Football Operations - Philadelphia Soul (Voorhees, NJ)

The position begins immediately and continues throughout the entire season until two weeks after the ArenaBowl in August 2015. This job will primarily be based out of our practice facility in Voorhees, NJ.

The position will include, but not be limited to, the following duties:

1. An individual scouting project that includes filming practice, assist in composing scouting reports and making contacts in the football world.

2. Work with the football operations staff and the general manager to compiling and submitting reports required by the League.

3. Assisting coaches with compiling weekly reports.

4. Assisting equipment staff with the setup and breakdown of the field for practices and workouts.

5. Other duties as assigned by the coaching staff and general manager.

This position is unpaid. Fall semester hour are flexible.  Spring candidates must make a minimum commitment of 20 hours a week from the time that you start until, as noted, two weeks after the ArenaBowl in August 2015.

Candidates must be a college/graduate student seeking course credit.

 This internship is ideal for someone that is serious about pursuing a career in sales with a professional sports team. It will provide sales, customer service, ticket operations, and fulfillment experience.
 

JOB SUMMARY: The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League are offering an opportunity to current college level students looking to gain real world sales experience and position themselves for a career in the Sports Industry upon graduation. Game Operations Internship - Spokane Shock (Spokane Valley, WA)

Description: Intern will work directly with the Director of Game Operations, while also providing support with the creative, and communications aspects of the marketing and operations department. The start date would be mid-to-late November, with the potential to continue on to the regular season (including postseason). This internship will be unpaid, but is eligible to receive college credit. Internship could require working nights, weekends, and holidays. Intern should also expect to work games and/or other Shock non-game events. In-office work will involve managing new projects, research, creating new campaigns, managing various game elements.

Job Duties can include:

  • In-game promotion execution
  • Assist in execution of grassroots events and other HEAT non-game events
  • Assist in creation of campaigns and new grassroots opportunities
  • Assembly and preparation of media kits (as needed, surrounding media campaigns throughout the season)
  • Assist with researching and contacting new clients to market talent to assist with talent booking process
  • Assist with Sponsorship relations and execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficiency in software for desktop publishing, and presentations, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro), Microsoft Office (emphasis on PowerPoint), and Apple Keynote. ***These skills are not required but applicants with experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to adapt easily in a fast-paced team environment and balance multiple projects and deadlines
  • Knowledge of both PC and Mac environments

The graphic design intern is responsible for the creation and maintenance of graphics, brand, and presentation. This intern will work closely with Director of Operations and partner other designers to develop media-rich collateral (print and digital) which will support marketing/sales needs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficiency in software for graphic design, desktop publishing, and presentations, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro), Microsoft Office (emphasis on PowerPoint), and Apple Keynote
  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates expertise in presentation design, graphic design, color, illustration, iconography, and typography
  • Ability to adapt easily in a fast-paced team environment and balance multiple projects and deadlines
  • Knowledge of both PC and Mac environments
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of file formats and specifications in preparation for printing versus web
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Proactive listening skills and ability to ask thoughtful questions for clarity and discovery
  • Ability to take direction/feedback
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, prioritization and time management skills

General Skills and Qualities:

Design and assist in the creation and revisions of info graphics, style guides, handouts, posters, fliers, communications, and many other design projects.

  • Contribute to graphic design consultation to provide potential options and ideas for marketing campaigns and efforts
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of composition and layout, color, typeface selection, and other fundamentals of design
  • Demonstrate knowledge of prepress and printing processes, including four-color process printing
  • Manage asset storage, cleanup, and file preparation.
  • Work with front office team to manage projects and see them through concept to completion
  • Ensure that the Shock standards of quality and creativity are reflected consistently in all materials

The internship is a volunteer program, as interns are not financially compensated but are eligible for school credit. This internship has the potential to continue on to our in Season programs.
